OPC laser

The laser has been carefully aligned on its base. But the whole assembly can be easily removed from the OPC block to clean the lens.

SECURITY WARNING : before proceeding, check that the column is disconnected from the mCCNC so the laser is off. Laser light can cause permanent eye damage.

Taking off the laser

The laser is held in place by 4 screw, on the opposite side to the spherical mirror. Take off the 4 screws of the laser plate :

and move the laser sideways, to gain access to the lens :

Taking off the lens

Once the laser is removed, you can see the lens, held in place by a clamp :

Take off the clamp :

Reassembling the lens

Reinstall the lens, flat side against the O-ring. Important : Do not touch the surface with metal tools.

Make sure that all metal part in front of the laser are black. Use a permanent marker to blacken everything, especially the lens clamp screw heads.
